About Presbyterian Women (PW)
Presbyterian Women includes over 125 women, of all ages, who meet monthly at circle meetings for fellowship, bible and mission study. We have morning or evening circles to accommodate all women of the church, and the circles meet in a member’s home or at the church. To join a circle, please contact member Jane Francz, email@example.com.
The members of the seven Circles then come together for monthly gatherings to hear a speaker. Past speakers included the Rev. Helen Beglin speaking about that year’s bible study on Joshua, church member Julie Kropp to talk about faithbooking (scrapbooking your faith journey) as well as allowing participants to make their own scrapbook page, and Leigh Hurst, who spoke about breast cancer awareness.
Support from PW comes from its members’ pledges, over and above what they give to The Presbyterian Church in Westfield. This money pays our national dues, speaker fees, childcare costs, and administrative costs, such as postage and copying costs for our annual directory.
The bulk of the money that PW raises goes to support mission. Every year Presbyterian Women runs a large fundraiser to raise money for local, national, and international mission projects. In 2008, we donated almost $14,000 to various mission projects including:
- Bagged lunches for the Agape Community Kitchen
- Youth scholarships for teens going on a mission trip
- Pilgrims of Ibbillin
- PW national Birthday offering
- PW national Thank offering
- Least Coin offering
